How can you leave something you don't have to pay monthly for and instead pretty much own and can just use again after weeks, month or years without having to pay for again?

It is only an "or" question if its about 2 p2p titles with you not able to afford both.

That aside, only logging in at best once every 1-3 weeks.
And not nearly enought time to start playing a regular mmo any time soon.

You mean Korean Guild Wars?

Nah, that's ok.

I'm not trying to derail or anything Abedeus. There was all this hype surrounding it, then I read articles on Massively about it, and it looks exactly the same as GW. I mean, even the classes are the same. It was a disappointment to me.

RoM is a Korean WoW.

Out of sheer curiosity... Have you ever actually played RoM?

Yeah, after 6 hours and getting to level 10 I noticed it's like Guild Wars + WoW, with the worst elements of WoW (grrrrrind) + GW's dualclassing, but poorly added (leveling one class, then leveling the other one...).

Maybe I was put off thanks to "level up to 10, change classes, and now you have no items because your level isn't high enough". Maybe they changed something, maybe I should play the game again. Right now, it's a really weak F2P game.

RoM is a Korean WoW.
And you dare to say this? After confessing that you only READ about it, and it only LOOKS like GW?

Classes:

Ranger: True, bows, but I do believe WoW has one too. Also, this Ranger also uses 2 swords in close-combat, as opposed to our Ranger, that really often uses weapons from other professions.
Assassin: Guilty as charged. Then again, it's more of a Lineage 2 Assassin.

Templar: ...Warrior with a lot of armor? You might think of it as of a WoW's Paladin without healing, just some blocking, damage absorbs and aggro skills.
Gladiator: Warrior again, but more offensive. Dual-wields.

Priest: Generic healing class, hardly "the same" as GW's. It does have more effective smiting skills, though.
Chanter: ...Really? The closest I can think of is Warrior Priest from Warhammer, but even then it's not exactly like that. It takes GW's Monk's healing (but weaker than Priest), buffs and "Mantras" from Paragon and staff or mace + shield of... which GW character uses Staffs in melee, again? Dervish? It's a combination of 3 GW characters, at best.

Sorcerer: Single-target (he has only 3 AoE's) damage dealer and... that's also a generic MMO character.
Spiritmaster: A combination of Ranger and Ritualist (mobile spirit pets that are actually useful), but it's a LOT more focused on the summon. Also, game's best Crowd Control character.

The only classes that are similar to GW's professions are Templar, Priest and maybe Sorcerer, but then again, GW's Elementalist is more AoE-oriented...

If you really want to make a game look bad, use real arguments based on your gameplay. If you didn't play the game, how can you say if it is a disappointment?

It's just an opinion. I'm not trying to make any game look bad, it just didn't live up to the hype IN MY OPINION. Don't take things so personally. Might help you out in other areas of your life too.

Christ.

i will definitely give aion a try, afterall, it looks very good. but will i leave gw?

i doubt it. main reason being p2p, i just dont like having to buy a game at £30-£40, then having to pay £10 a month to access 'my game'.

(and yes, i do realise the advantages of p2p, such as more and better updates, but i still dont like it.)

Although I'm a bit lessening my GW play, I will not enroll in Aion.

I've played through last Beta, and there was virtually nothing that made it stand out from any other MMO. Same quests (kill x of these), same crafting, same skillsystem (get to level x before you can buy this or that skill), same means of transportation (buy and fly your way through the area), same age old professions. Nothing made me go WOW, this is something I want to see more of!

Only things that were different were the graphics, which are indeed very nice, and the ability to fly, which can be fun but is not a selling point to me. Also, the 'Asian' look of the characters (too pretty, longlegged and shortskirted), isn't my kind of thing.

Well with the only thing remotely GW-esque being dual classing, it's a huge stretch to call it a Korean GW like you did. RoM = Korean F2P WoW, not GW. One would think that would be quite obvious after six hours of play. Though I can't help but chuckle at someone taking that long to reach level ten... That's half an hour of work, or an hour tops.

Ah well. Good thing there's no grind in Aion.

a couple of thinsg not true in all of that a wow+guildwars sint really what aion is more like linage+guildwars+wow- the lame stuff out of all the games

now for the classes

tamplar is high def high blocking + sheild stances then has healing also agroo controler which in truth is a lot like paladin in so many ways tamplar is by far one of the top two classes and best tanks in game

glads are high dps agro control and has high armor

prest is a great healer has some buffs and does have a nice summon for damge alot with a smiter type of role

chanter is like a prest+rit+pragon+dever(kinda) does a good job healing has alot of buffs attack and defense as for dmage doesnt have a whole lot

as for the other you pretty much have it except for the spirtmaster not a whoel lot of agroo control has a little but not much

as for people having a opionion on the game and knowing things you wont really know aion til you til you have reached level 35 and done some of the fun things and have gotten 80% of the skills for the classes and explored all the stigmas and such

aion has alot to learn and most dont really give it a cahnce after level 20 which to tellyouthe truth 1 through 20 isnt the best part of aion and level 20 con be reached very easly in 3 days and you have barly learned anything about aion up til that point .. put it this way its like playing level 1 thruogh 5 in guildwars and saying you hate the game and so on at level 5 in guildwars you have barly done antyhing in guildwars which is the same as saying you hate aion at level 20

as for i played the beta this wont do it for em either you will have to play in all the betas and experiance everythign get a toon to level 30 which will be in 2 weeks this weekend is up to level 25 and adds pvp so you will once agian learn another small part of aion as of right now the betas have covered only 25% of the game

Well, that's too bad for Aion, but I am not going to play a game that is said to only get fun after you've been playing for a lot of hours.

Make a game that is fun from the beginning, because that's what every person is going to see.

Yes, the first thing I've thought about when I re-read my post.

I first got the 10th level, then ding'ed 6th hour. I know, I endured it for so long, but that's because I tried to like the game, I really tried.

It didn't bother me that you insulted a game I like, it's just that you assumed the game is bad because someone else wrote so. You didn't even try it. That's like assuming a restaurant is bad, because a stranger told you that.

About grind in Aion - with the 1.5 patch, they double the amount of EXP from quests. This way, while most of the quests are "kill XXX" or "gather YYY" or "kill ZZZ times WWW", it quickly adds up. For instance, getting to level 10 in Aion is about 2-3 hours, skipping most of the quests in the starter area.

It's something between Guild Wars and Lineage. Or WoW and Lineage, but this one would be a bit more grindy.

I'll will buy the next MMORPG (and pay for a year) that doesn't have ANY "kill XXX" or "gather yyy" quests.

So sick of this mechanic, it's not even funny.

Nope. If it were free to play perhaps. Also, I don't believe it would run too well on my computer.

These days it's generally safe to assume an MMO is going to be "bad" because there hasn't really been one that's really been worth the subscription cost.

What I always assume, which is why such "highly acclaimed" hype is usually all for naught, is that first experiences are always good. But the most important link that keeps the players subscribed - the endgame - is never really fully understood or played through until a few months after.

So this is why I'm taking everything everyone's saying about it right now with a massive amount of salt. Until players get a full grasp on the final product, nothing really matters. Pretty much every MMO has shown us this.

- Gladiator.
- With a Glaive.
- That flies.
- Smashing other people out of orbit.

Well, that's reasons enough for me to max-level at least one character. What happens after that, I don't know.
